Chances for Intercultural Communication: Christianity – Judaism – Islam
Lecture and Discussion Series in cooperation with the City of Mainz ("Universität im Rathaus")
Nov. 2001 – Apr. 2002
Scholars from various disciplines reacted to the events of Sept. 11, 2001 in an attempt to relate their research results to contemporary political events.
The lecture series started out with an interdisciplinary podium discussion followed by individual lectures in which scholars from the humanites and social sciences explored the possibility of intercultural communication between members of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam in the contemporary Near East, Europe, and North America. The lectures generate a continuing discussion among the different disciplines and with the audience.
The lecture series resulted in a common research project "Mediation in and between Cultures" which was submitted to the German Research Foundation for funding.
