Research Group 295: Cultural and Linguistic Contacts: Processes of Transformation in North-Eastern African and West Asian History

The Research Group examines the consequences of cultural and linguistic contact for the emergence of new structures of state, society, religion, economy, modes of settlement, art, literature, and language. The exemplary case studies of the project are located in the region of North-Eastern Africa and West Asia and span a period from antiquity to the present, thereby permitting the long-term observation of transformation processes.
